AutoXray 700 GREAT TOOL!
This product was recommended to me by my brother who is an experienced mechanic because we have two older cars that kept throwing codes. We have limited finances to keep running to mechanics and my brother lives 3000 miles away. My husband is so mechanically disinclined that at times I have to explain to him how to use the TV remote, yet he was able to take this product out of the box hook it to the car and read and delete codes! The software is easy to install and quite self explantory. The price of this unit was by far the most reasonable I found and has already paid for itself in gas running around to find someone to read the code that does not want to charge $6o for each read. I would recommend this product to anyone that owns a car!

As written in prior reviews, this code scanner is simple to use, and provides a professional analysis of trouble codes. What is not included in prior reviews is the need for a shop manual for your specific vehicle in combination with this scanner. The scanner will provide the trouble codes, but you will need a manual to locate the faulty units (sensors, etc.), and the how-to instructions for replacing faulty units. Buy this scanner, add a factory shop manual, and you will save on repair bills. Depending on your mechanical skills, a factory manual is recommended ($100 +/-), but for those with limited mechanical skills, a Chilton or Haynes manual (available at most parts stores - $15 +/-) will suffice.

this tool is good for the man with a garage that can't afford to take his wife;s car to a dealer when the check engine light comes on. Its so easy to use and it tells you the code and what it is. I live in an emissions testing state (Georgia) and annually battle mysterious check engine lights on our two cars to pass the test. I bought the code reader because I wanted to stop paying ridiculous amounts of money to have others chase down minor problems. The reader is super easy to use, and after two months has helped me (who knows little about cars) self-diagnose and correct issues with both cars. Also, being able to erase pesky codes that remain after being fixed is a big plus.

Bought it to check a code and it gave an accurate reading. I was able to narrow it down to a couple of things from the reading. Now, as I shop for service, I'm armed with this knowledge. I had an intermittent "service engine soon" light that was driving me nuts. At a $100 for a diagnostic check from the dealer to tell me I needed an oxygen sensor the cost of this tool was more than worth it and I could save more by doing the fix myself. I saved 50% on the diagnostic test alone.
